Nikolaos Tegos is a graduate of the Liverpool University (United Kingdom) and holds a Bachelor’s degree certificate (BSc) in Genetics. He successfully completed a Master’s degree course (MSc) in Medical Molecular Genetics, from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland). Furthermore, he is a holder of a Doctor’s of Philosophy degree (PhD), from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology), under the subject “Identification and typing of Candida species in a set of immunocompromised patients with development of a molecular research protocol”.
He worked as a biologist in the National School of Public Health (NSPH), during the period 2001-2019, providing teaching and laboratory work, in the Department of Parasitology, Entomology & Tropical Diseases. Furthermore, he took the position of the Quality Manager, in the Malaria Reference Centre (MRC), under the requirements of the accreditation model ELOT EN ISO 15189:2012.
From 2019 until today, he is working in the Department of Public Health Policy, of the School of Public Health, of the University of West Attica, which constitutes the universal successor of the former NSPH, as a member of the laboratory teaching staff. His teaching work is verified through postgraduate courses of the Department of Public Health Policy (lectures, supervision of master thesis, demonstration and training of laboratory techniques, publications), as well as undergraduate courses of the Department of Biomedical Sciences-Medical Laboratories, of the School of Health Sciences & Care, of the University of West Attica (lectures). Furthermore, his laboratory work is verified in the Units of Parasitic & Tropical Diseases & Medical Entomology, of the Laboratory of Surveillance of Infectious Diseases, of the Department of Public Health Policy, of the School of Public Health, of the University of West Attica. Finally, he continues as a member of the Malaria Reference Centre (MRC), fulfilling the tasks of the Quality Manager & the analyst of molecular accredited techniques.
