Mission

The MSc in Public Health has the mission of:

1) the education of Public Health specialists, the interdisciplinary and intersectoral high-level theoretical and practical training for the analysis of contemporary Public Health problems, the planning and implementation of Public Health programs and policies in Greece and internationally,

2) the promotion of research and the dissemination of its results and

3) the contribution to society through the reduction of social inequalities in health and the creation of conditions for equitable access of all population groups to quality health services, within an environment of cooperation, innovation and inclusion.

 

Vision

Our vision is to inspire a new generation of Public Health professionals through the postgraduate education and to introduce them to the newest scientific Public Health knowledge and practices, in order to enable them to face the emerging risk factors and challenges, aiming at the promotion of health and well-being of the population at local, national and international level.

Quality Policy

Ensuring and improving the quality of the Greek Universities and the study programs offered therein is a fundamental goal of the Greek Higher Education, with the aim of best meeting the needs of society and the its expectations regarding Higher Education Institutions. These objectives were further strengthened by the institutionalization of certification both at the level of the Foundation and Academic Units as well as at the level of study programs.

The Quality Policy aims to support the academic content and the scientific orientation of the MSc Program, so that they achieve high quality educational, research and administrative work, in accordance with the international academic standards and the good practices of the European Higher Education Area, in compliance with the rules of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and the current legislation. The Quality Policy of the Department of Public Health Policies focuses on the achievement of strategic goals with the ultimate goal of the continuous development and improvement of the MSc Program.

 

Target-setting

The target-setting process of the MSc in Public Health is based on the strategic objectives that have been set, each of which is further divided into quality objectives. All the quality objectives are reflected in quality indicators indicated by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), and are harmonized, in the context of respect, for the character and autonomy of Greek Universities, with the Standards and Guidelines of the European Higher Education Area. The measurement, monitoring, modification, strengthening or replacement of the quality objectives and the corresponding quality indicators is a necessary condition for the improvement of the educational services provided by the MSc Program.

Internal Evaluation

The MSc program aims at the assurance of its quality and the continuous improvement of the educational services provided. In this context, the process of evaluating courses and teachers by postgraduate students is included, accorting to the article 87 of Law 4957/2022. The evaluation of courses, teachers and the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the MSc Program, is carried out in accordance with the article 44 of Law 4485/2017 and the Regulation of Postgraduate Studies of the University of Western Attica and is an essential obligation of the postgraduate students.

The evaluation of courses and teachers of the MSc program by the postgraduate students and the publication of the results of the evaluation to those involved are carried out in accordance with the certification and evaluation procedures of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and the Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P.) of the University of West Attica.

The Director, the Coordinating Committee and Internal Evaluation Committee of the MSc Program are competent to proceed, in collaboration with the teaching faculty, in drawing up proposals for the improvement of the educational services provided and the implementation of improvement actions, whenever these are required, based on the student evaluation reports.
