Ioanna Kontele is a Dietitian-Nutritionist, a graduate of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition Science at the Harokopio University of Athens and a member of the Hellenic Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists. She has an MSc in Public Health from the Department of Public Health Policy, School of Public Health, University of West Attica and she is a PhD candidate of the same Department.
Since 2007 she is working as a Nutritionist at the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases and Nutrition of the Greek Ministry of Health, with subjects related to Public Health, such as the design and implementation of programs to promote healthy eating, the issuance of nutritional guidelines for various groups of the population, the integration of European public health policies and the operation of the National Nutrition Policy Committee. She has volunteered in the Adolescent Health Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic at the University of Athens (Children’s Hospital “P. & A. Kiriakou”) providing nutritional support to adolescents with eating disorders, and she is a collaborate of the Center for Education and Treatment of Eating Disorders regarding the training of health professionals and the nutritional support for persons suffering from eating disorders.
She collaborates with the Department of Public Health of the University of West Attica, participating in the teaching of the course “Nutrition, Physical Activity and Quality of Life”, as well as in the writing of articles that have been published in Greek and international scientific journals on topics related to the nutritional behaviors of children and adolescents, eating disorders in the adolescent population, as well as in athletic populations, and nutrition policy as part of public health policies.
