Kalliopi (Kallia) Kounenou is a Psychologist-Psychotherapist, Professor of Counseling Psychology, Career guidance and family at the Department of Education of ASPETE. She works as a psychotherapist and counselling psychologist for adults, couples, and families.
She holds a degree in Psychology by the Department of Psychology of the University of Crete, MSc by the Department of Psychology of the City University of London and a PhD by the Department of Primary Education of the Aegean University. She prepared the PhD thesis after receiving a 3year scholarship by the State Scholarship Foundation. She received her psychotherapeutic training by the European School of Psychoanalysis and the Hellenic Society for Analytic Group & Family Psychotherapy. She has served in many administrative positions, among them as a coordinator of the Division of Counselling Psychology of the Hellenic Psychological Society for 10 years and as a member of the National Scientific Committee for the relevance of postgraduate studies with Special Education & School Psychology. She has taught and teaches in a large number of Universities both in undergraduate and postgraduate level.
She also teaches in the 5-year Synthetic Psychotherapy training program organized by the University of Thessaly.
She is a member of six doctoral thesis supervision committees with three of them successfully completed. She has also supervised a great number of Master theses, most of which have been published in international scientific journals.
She has participated as a scientific director and/or as a member of scientific teams in several scientific/research programs aiming at the application of Counselling Psychology in various education fields and young women empowerment. Her published work lists more than 55 international and 12 Greek publications, 2 books as well as the editing of volumes, and special issues of Greek and International Scientific Journals.
